SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITIES

One of the most important parts of your senior year will be the finalization of your college plans. It’s time to make those campus visits, find out about admission policies and procedures, see what financial assistance each school has to offer, as well as start checking out opportunities for scholarships.

The varieties and types of scholarships for high school seniors that are available to you are impossible to count.

  • There are scholarships for high school seniors ranging in amounts from only a few dollars to thousands of dollars.

  • Some are for only one year while others are renewable each year, based on your performance.

  • Many are based on need.

  • Others require a high grade point average and/or SAT scores.

  • Not all scholarships for high school seniors require good grades or high scores.

  • Previous community service is a requirement for a growing number of awards.

  • There are scholarships based on ethnicity or cultural background.

  • Residency in a specific state or city is required for others.

  • Many are gender specific.

  • There are many presented by professional associations designed to encourage young students to enter their field
Check out the scholarship information available to you through one of our counselors, Mrs. Tabatha Kenney or Mrs. Jodie Johnson.  They are waiting to assist you.

STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT

Internet and Computing Core Certification (IC3)
Industry certifications are just one of many benefits students at the CDC are provided.  The IC3 certifications helps teens and adults become more productive in the new technology-based economy.  Kadrian earned his IC3 Certification, industry recognized certification, through the Business and Computer Technology Program instructed by Katherine Anderson.  Kadrian, a second year student in the BCT program, is a Senior at Murrah High School.  He uses the skills he gained at CDC to obtain this certification.

IC3 certification allows students to demonstrate their computer and internet literacy through a worldwide industry standard that accurately validates skills and productivity in the workplace.  The IC3 is a course offered during the night program at CDC.  For information about testing to earn this certification contact Katherine Anderson, BCT Instructor and IC3 Test Administrator.
